Exploration, Mining and Minerals Processing Industries

Our experience spans a wide spectrum of the mining sector including coal, base- and precious metal, inclusive of underground and open pit. We have seen the rapid adoption of technologies to help make management operations more real time. We believe that technology has evolved and matured to a point where a midsize organisation can afford the benefits of a SMART integrated, instrumented and intelligent organisation architecture.

We can rapidly provide an overview to a detailed integrated understanding of your operation starting with material from our smart templates. The process of focused and rapid team work saves your teams time and aids rapid progress to a higher level of performance.

Agile mining allows:

  • rapid identification of changes, be they situational, systemic or strategic
  • rapid response formulation
  • rapid response implementation.

People, communication and understanding are key to achieving agile mining.

Realising Miner Synergy

Efficient transition between exploration/development and mine/processing requires different disciplines and skills to interact well and utilise the best of technologies and processes. Solitech's experience, tools and partners offer gains in efficiency and quality in the integration and execution of these phases and disciplines. Solitech leverages Microsoft Office and SharePoint to create a simple to utilise platform for knowhow and information sharing, empowering project managers, cost controllers, engineers, safety officers, maintenance leaders and HR staff.

We appreciate that geology, metallurgy and engineering aspects drive performance and greatly value the special breed of people who are actively involved in these enterprises. An advanced understanding of mine operations is our essential driver to integrated information.

Integrated information improves decision quality and decisiveness.

Types of situational issues that have lead to interventions:

PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT:
“Shift change causes plant information to be lost.”

PLANT FOREMAN:
“The ROM silo feed chokes just after the new shift, but it only takes 15 minutes to clear. There are so many other things that seem more important to fix. We have a man assigned to check it at start of shift.”

MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR:
"Getting PM jobs started on time has always been a problem here because the right parts are almost always missing. We plan for this delay and schedule the equipment to be down 30 minutes longer, knowing that we will almost always have to go to the warehouse to find the right parts. This way operations know when to expect equipment.”

PRODUCTION ENGINEER:
“When this ore pass fills-up, the entire sub system shuts down for about 10 minutes several times per shift.”

OPERATIONS FOREMAN:
“We used to get lube delivered to the drills rigs faster. Now the drills sit for at least 20 minutes longer before the water bowser comes.”

UNDERGROUND SHIFTBOSS:
“Everyone knows that scrappers are last priority here.  We never know where they are when we start our shift. We probably lose 3 hours per week looking for them.”
