Using the integrated Solutions Architecture Management (i-SAM) tool and the Mining Reference Model (see MS4Mine) to map processes and roles in an organisation diagram and define the actors/role players.

Adapting the process decompositions provided with the Mining Reference Model to reflect the ‘as-is’ processes.

Generating BPM models for each core business and process.

Developing first-level workflow models based on the Business Process Management (BPM) models and completing them by connecting the tasks defined in the process decompositions.

Drilling down the workflows to a level where objects, such as costs, resources and timing are available for single activities.

Simulating workflow and using standard reporting tools to identify bottlenecks and other optimisation opportunities.

Creating the ‘to-be’ workflow based on simulation results.

Simulating the ‘to-be’ workflow and comparing the results to calculate the return on investment (ROI) value.
